Trade show tents with logo graphics are not only for music festivals or outdoor expos. Quite a few of the custom event tent orders we complete at Lush Banners are installed at indoor events such as business conventions. A trade show tent, which is also known as a customized tent canopy, is a smart solution for exhibitors who wish to welcome attendees in a branded space that feels more comfortable than a booth.

Custom tents for trade shows make sense for the following reasons:

  • When you order a custom pop up canopy from Lush Banners, you get a set of heavy duty aluminum frames that are covered by a limited lifetime warranty.

  • The top of your trade show canopy can be fully customized with high-resolution graphics, including photographs, printed with quality processes that can withstand outdoor climate conditions.

  • Lush Banners includes a set of ropes and tent stakes with each full custom canopy order.

  • Your custom canopy tent gives you an opportunity to highlight your branding because event guests only need to look up in order to find your space.

  • The instructions for how to put a canopy tent together, which we will describe below, are really easy to follow.

How to Set Up a Canopy Tent

The first thing to know about how to assemble a canopy tent is that this is a fairly simple task. Unlike elaborate trade show booth displays, trade show canopies and tents are specifically designed for easy assembly that can be completed in a short time and without specialized tools; in fact, this is one of their most important selling points.

Standard sizes for custom event tent solutions range from 5 to 20 feet. Essentially, the five steps of assembly listed below are the same for all tent sizes; you will only need a helper when you get to the larger canopies. What makes these trade solutions easy to put together is their pop-up style of assembly, which is enhanced by self-locking and quick release mechanisms.

How to Assembly Custom Canopy Tents - Step 1

Step 1: Remove Hardware Pieces From Storage

Your customized tent is securely shipped in a box that you may be able to reuse a few times, but you will want to get a more permanent and convenient storage solution, such as our premium travel bag with wheels, particularly if you expect a busy trade show schedule.

When taking out the hardware elements of the tent, spread them out on the ground separately for easy identification and access. You will want to expand the aluminum frame slightly until you can see the corner pieces before moving on to the next steps of assembly. You don't want to fully expand the folding frame at this time; the canopy top needs to be in place before full expansion.

Step 2: Lift and Expand the Frame

Hold the frame by the V-shaped section at the center and spread it out, but only to a halfway point. As previously mentioned, full expansion comes after the canopy is placed over the frame.

For tents in sizes 10 ft x 10 ft and larger, you will want to stand across from an assistant to help with lifting the frame by grabbing the middle and walking backwards until it stands evenly.

Step 3: Attaching the Canopy

With two people, you can simply grab one edge of the canopy to drape atop the frame. A solo installer can do the same, but it may be easier to fold the canopy in half so that it can be laid on top and subsequently unfolded.

Once the canopy is on top of the frame, the next step is to line it up with the corners for fastening, which can be accomplished with the Velcro hook-and-loop systems.

Step 4: Expanding the Frame

Now that all corners of the canopy have been attached and fastened to the frame, you can fully expand it from the corner poles. If you have an assistant, each can grab a corner and walk backwards. Once the frame and canopy are at the full extension point, the legs can be locked in position.

The center of the frame is equipped with a crank mechanism that will tighten the canopy so that it looks sharp and does not move with the breeze. Rotate this crank until the top is nice and tight. You can now adjust the telescoping legs to the desired position and lock them into place.

Step 5: Set Up the Walls, Panels, and Accessories

Depending on the type of custom canopy solution you get, there may be walls, lower side panels, awnings, or banners to attach. Specific instructions on how to hang a banner on a canopy tent, for example, will be included with your order.
