Written by Andrea Gibbs | Creative Growth Lead + Senior Display Consultant

Properly caring for your feather banners ensures a long lifetime of service. Our feather flag and feather banner models give you top quality for a cost effective price. Here is everything you need to know to make your banner last longer.

We are sure that you will be able to use our new line of feather flags for many years to come. However, to do so, you will need to install your banners in the correct fashion. Once you do, you will need to handle them with an appropriate level of care. This will ensure that they will fully serve your every need.

One crucial detail that needs to be pointed out right away is that our banners are machine washable. However, under no circumstances should you ever attempt to iron or machine dry them. All of our banners and flags need to be hung and air dried in order to preserve their bright coloration and easily discernible graphic art.

Installing Your Feather Banners

You will need to know the precise way to take care of your outdoor banner. Proper installation is key, follow these steps and you’ll have your new flags on display quickly.

Step 1: Unpack All of the Parts

You will first need to unpack all of the relevant parts. It’s crucial to make sure that you have enough room and height for proper assembly when the time comes.

One important thing to note is that you may have more than one shipment for a single order. If this is the case, you will have to wait for other packages that will contain your customized banner or other parts.

Step 2: Connect All of the Poles

The next step will be to group together all of the poles and connect them one by one. The order of priority should be from the thickest to the thinnest.

Step 3: Insert the Poles into the Banner Sleeve

Insert each connected pole into the sleeve of the fabric banner. Keep going until the rod tip reaches the end of the specially double-stitched sleeve.

Step 4: Secure the Banner to the Pole

Your next step should be to fully secure the fabric banner to the pole. You can do this by making use of the tension cord that has been provided. Finish up by tying the loop and hooks tightly together.

The procedure will be slightly different if you are using our custom 6 foot Teardrop or 6.5 Feather Banners. In this case, you can secure the fabric banner to the pole by means of the loop and hook solely.

Step 5: Insert the Banner & Pole into the Base

The last step will be to insert the fabric banner and pole into the base. At this point, your assembly is complete.

Caring for Your Feather Flags

The steps that you will need to follow in order to take care of your outdoor banner can be summed up in this fashion:

Step 1: Take Down Flags in Extreme Weather

It should go without saying that extreme weather is not good for your custom feather flags and custom feather banners. It will be up to you to follow steps to keep your banner lasting longer. Extreme weather, such as heavy wind and rain, can do great damage to your flags. Bring them inside when required.

Step 2: Ensure the Proper Installation of Your Banners

The next detail to take care of will be ensuring the proper installation of your flags and banners. This can be done by carefully following all of the steps that have been outlined above. Doing so will be necessary to preserve your banners from excess heat, cold, damp, and UV rays. Once installed, keep an eye on them.

Step 3: Minimize Force

It will be up to you to do all that you can to minimize the force with which you install and store your custom feather banners and feather flags. This will also apply during the time that your flags are outdoors. Keep them out of excess sunlight and bring them inside when the weather begins to get stormy and rough.

Cleaning Your Feather Flags

In addition to installing and storing your feather flags and banners, you will also need to clean them in the proper fashion. This can be done by paying attention to the steps outlined below:

Step 1: Take Care to Clean the Fabric Correctly

Keeping the fabric of your custom feather banners and flags clean is absolutely essential. You should never use bleach when cleaning them. The best way to wash them will be in cold water. After they are washed, hang them out to dry. Never machine dry them. You should never iron them.

Step 2: Keep Your Graphics From Fading

The best way to keep your graphics from fading is to store them in a cool, dry place. Keep in mind that excess sunlight that contains UV rays is fatal to your flags and banners. Too much sun will tend to cause the graphics to become dull and faded. Keeping them out of sunlight will add years to their service life.

Step 3: Storing Flags Properly

As noted above, it’s a good idea to keep your flags well out of direct sunlight. This is much easier if your flags and banners are kept for indoor use. If you use them outdoors, try to keep them in a somewhat shady area. After you are finished with them, store them in a place that is cool, dry, and secure.
