ARTWORK FILE REVIEW GUIDANCE

Learn what each Artwork Review check means and how to resolve it.

What It Means:

Some of the text in your file uses fonts not available on our end. If printed as is, this text may appear in a different typeface than intended.

Recommended Fix:

Convert your text to outlines before saving. In Illustrator, select all (Ctrl+A) and press Shift+Ctrl+O. Alternatively, re-export the PDF with fonts embedded to keep the text editable.

More Help:

See Our Outline Fonts & Embed Images Guide.

What It Means:

Your file uses a color space other than CMYK, either RGB or Grayscale. Our printing process uses CMYK ink. Files in RGB may experience color shifts during conversion, particularly in bright blues, greens, and neons. Files in Grayscale will print in black and white.

Recommended Fix:

Convert your file to CMYK before saving. If an exact color match is required, such as for a brand color, please provide the Pantone (PMS) code instead and we will match to it.

More Help:

Explore Our Popular Pantone Colors Chart and How to Convert CMYK to Pantone Guides.

What It Means:

Your artwork is not built at the dimensions required for this product. Scaling or cropping may be necessary to fit, which can affect image quality or cut off design elements.

Recommended Fix:

Rebuild your file at the template size, or download our template for this product and place your design within it. If you are comfortable with us scaling a close but not exact file, please note this in your order.

More Help:

Read our Guide on How to Get High-Quality Artwork Files for Bleed & Safe Zones Tips.

What It Means:

Your file contains shadows, glows, or blend effects. These elements may print differently than they appear on screen.

Recommended Fix:

Flatten the transparency before saving. In Illustrator, select your artwork and choose Object, then Flatten Transparency. Review the file afterward to confirm the effect appears as intended.

What It Means:

One or more images in your file fall below our minimum print resolution of 150 DPI and may appear soft or pixelated when printed.

Recommended Fix:

Replace the image with the original high-resolution version, ideally 150 to 300 DPI at final print size. Screenshots and web-sourced images are typically too low resolution for print. If a higher-resolution version is not available, we will advise on expected print quality prior to production.

More Help:

See Our Guide on How to Use High-Resolution Images (At Least 150 to 300 DPI).

What It Means:

Your file does not include an embedded color profile, which may cause slight color variation between your screen and the final print.

Recommended Fix:

In most cases, no action is required. We apply our standard press profile, U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2. If an exact color match is needed, please provide the Pantone (PMS) code.

More Help:

Read Our Critical Color Match Guidelines.

What It Means:

Certain elements in your file are set to overprint rather than knock out the layer beneath them. This can darken colors or cause white text to disappear.

Recommended Fix:

No action is required on your end. We review overprint settings during prepress. If this was set intentionally, please note it in your order.
